Stucco the exterior of your dollhouse for an unexpected appearance.
You can apply a stucco finish to your dollhouse and make it stand out from the usual faux siding or brick. Use any household filler compound from your local hardware or home improvement store to create your stucco appearance. By adding paint to the compound, you can color your stucco before you apply it, saving yourself the time and trouble of painting the dollhouse's exterior after the stucco has been applied.
Instructions
1. Lay a large sheet of plastic down to protect the surface you're working on. Stuccoing your dollhouse is typically a messy process.
2. Tape off the areas of your dollhouse where you don't want stucco to be applied with masking tape. If you have the window trim on the windows, tape it off. If you don't, tape off where they'll be installed so they sit flush to the dollhouse.
3. Dump a container of caulk or joint compound into a disposable cake pan. Color it with latex paint and stir it well.
4. Stucco the dollhouse with a damp sponge. Dab the sponge into the stucco and dab it onto the dollhouse. Rinse your sponge with clean water frequently and wring it nearly dry before applying more stucco to the dollhouse.
5. Peel off the masking tape as soon as you're done applying stucco. It's important that you peel the tape off while the stucco is still wet. Let the dollhouse dry overnight.
