Remove Egg From Stucco Home Walls

Stucco is a durable covering for homes.

Stucco is a building material popular on many homes. The uniform appearance and painted masonry provide an aesthetic covering and added insulation similar to stone or brick. Periodic cleaning of stucco walls is necessary for regular upkeep and maintaining the appearance of the material. However, when pranksters throw eggs against the exterior of a stucco home, the sticky stains can leave residue that is not effectively removed using traditional cleaning methods. As with any stain, it is important to address it as quickly as possible before it is allowed to set, at least within 24 to 48 hours of the incident.

Instructions

1. Spray the stain to pre-wet it with the jet sprayer. Attach the sprayer to the hose and set it to a medium-high setting. Spray the stain from the bottom to the top, as spraying top to bottom will cause streaking of the stain on the wall. Saturate the area completely. Depending on how fresh the egg residue is on the stucco, this may be all that is required. If not, proceed to the next step.

2. Create a paste using a mixture of water and TSP detergent. TSP is found in popular laundry detergents, such as Tide, and is gentler than harsh, abrasive acidic cleaners that could lead to damaging the wall. In a bucket or bowl, add only enough water to create a thick paste from the detergent. It is best to use powdered detergent to do this. Apply the paste directly to the stain using a stiff bristled brush. Allow the paste to set for a few minutes.

3. Spray the treated area with the jet sprayer. Similar to Step 1, spray area from the bottom to the top of the stain. This should remove the stain from the stucco. Allow to dry.
