Estimate Labor For Hanging Siding

Estimating the cost of labor for hanging siding involves talking with the contractor you're planning to use and finding out a few pieces of information. Also measure the house so the contractor can give you an estimated time it will take to complete the job, which you can then turn around and use to estimate the overall cost of the project.

Instructions

1. Determine the total square footage of the areas on the outside of that home that require new siding. Multiply the length (in feet) and the width (in feet) of these areas to come up with the square footage for an area. Add all the square feet calculations for these areas to get the total square footage of space that needs new siding.

2. Multiply the number from Step 1 by $2 to get a low estimate for the amount of labor required to have a contractor install siding.

3. Multiply the number from Step 1 by $7 to get a high estimate for the amount of labor required to have a contractor install siding. Keep in mind these are only average labor rates as of 2011 and the actual rate per square foot for labor will vary depending on which contractor you use.
