Colors That
Match With Orange
Orange is a loud, expressive color often underused in home decor. Whether you're trying to match orange carpet to furniture or walls or simply attempting to match an orange room to your accessories, this color presents a challenge. As you decorate your home, look at different shades of orange, ranging from earthy and warm to bright and bold, and pick the right shade of orange for your house.
White
Your safest bet is generally white and cream colors, which you can combine with orange without worry of the colors clashing or that your room will become too loud and bright. White helps to neutralize the strong, reactive presence that orange plays in a room. White also brings a sense of clean modernity and is easily matched to white accessories.
Yellow and Red
Orange is a warm color. The other two warm colors, red and yellow, fall to either side of orange on the color wheel. In addition, orange and red, as well as orange and yellow, are analogous color pairs, meaning that these colors fall side by side on the color wheel, making the relationship between these three colors very strong. Warm colors are affiliated with action, heat, passion, summer and the sun. These are exciting colors, not peaceful colors. This color combination is not appropriate for most adult bedrooms, however, in which the primary goal of the room is to make the occupants want to sleep and relax, although children often enjoy these colors in their bedrooms and playrooms. Try using these colors in the decor of the room, but neutralize the loud crazy colors with white or cool blue-gray walls lest your children become constantly wound up from over stimulation.
Gray
For a sleek, modern, unexpected combination, place a loud, brash orange next to a soft, cool, impersonal gray. The contrast between these colors is striking. If your walls are orange, use gray accessories like curtains, pillows and bedspread. The opposite is also true: Gray walls stand in pleasant contrast to a loud orange couch, an orange tablecloth and orange curtains. Note that blue is the opposite of orange on the color wheel, and thus a cool blue-gray also works well with orange.
