Repaint Within Your Cooking Oven

An old oven can look like new when touched up with paint.

Over time, the inside of your cooking oven may become so stained and scratched that it's an eyesore every time you open the door. Instead of getting rid of the oven and replacing it with a new one, use appliance paint to give the inside of the oven a brand new sheen. Hardware and paint stores sell specialized paint for this type of task, and you can have your oven looking brand new in a short period of time.

Instructions

1. Remove the racks, burners and anything else you do not wish to paint from inside the oven. If your oven has a built-in light, cover the light bulb with painting tape. If the oven is unclean, wipe it clean with a sponge and hot, soapy water, then allow it to fully dry.

2. Sand the entire inside of the oven with 150-grit sandpaper. The goal isn't to remove the old paint, but rather to scuff it up enough to allow the new paint to successfully adhere.

3. Spray the inside of the oven with appliance paint, ensuring you follow the instructions specific to your can of paint. Typically, shake the paint for several seconds, then hold it 12 inches from each wall of the oven while spraying.

4. Allow the paint to dry for the time specified on the can. If the oven requires a second coat, give the first coat a very light sanding, then apply the second coat of paint.
