Brown And Gold Asian Room Painting Ideas

Asian style
brings sophistication.

Modern Asian style combines clean, simple fields of color with Oriental motifs. Use matte or metallic gold with any color in the brown range to achieve a contemporary background for your Eastern-influenced decor. A full spectrum of brown latex paint allows you to influence the mood of your Asian escape. For a warm, inviting look, try browns with lots of red in them. These include cinnamon and sienna hues. To anchor a room, go with darker browns on the cool side, like umber or mocha. Light tints of any brown create an airy and open effect. Together with gold, your choice of brown adds Asian flare to any room.

Metallic Trim

For a simple background to offset Asian furniture, try using matte brown latex on the walls and metallic gold on the trim, which works best with strong browns in the range of mocha to cinnamon. Lighter colors don't hold their own against the gold, and make the room look cheap and brassy. On its own, this scheme does not give a distinctly Oriental look. However, pairing it with any Asian style, from Japanese minimalist to Chinese ornate, makes the whole room sing of the Far East.

Breezy Bamboo

Subtle bamboo stencils provide Asian ambiance.

Achieve this subtle Asian look by rolling on a medium brown base color. After it dries, use a bamboo stencil to add stalks of the Eastern plant in corners or around the entire room. Matte, or nonmetallic, gold works best for the bamboo stenciling. This look complements the sleek lines of Japanese style furniture and decor.

Go Gold

Create a rich environment for ornate Chinese or Indian style accents with a gold glaze. For your base coat, roll on a light tint from any color in the brown range. Mix half-and-half metallic gold paint with clear glaze medium. Use a paintbrush or rag to apply the glaze over the dry base coat, which adds a subtle sheen to your walls and acts like a gilt frame for your more opulent Oriental decor.
