Instructions
Preparing the Wall for Paint
1. Mix trisodium phosphate in a bucket with warm water. Wipe down the surface you are painting with a rag soaked in the TSP mixture. Let the area dry for a few minutes to one hour.
2. Sand the surface of the wall lightly with 80-grit sandpaper to remove any imperfections and remaining debris. Wipe the area down with a damp rag to remove the sanding dust.
3. Patch any holes or large chips on the surface with spackle, using your putty knife. Let the spackle dry according to the manufacturer's instructions.
4. Sand the patched area with 120-grit sandpaper so that it is flush with the wall. Wipe the surface with a damp cloth to remove any sanding dust.
Creating a Decorative Wall
5. Paint the wall with Behr Premium Plus Ultra Interior Flat Enamel, using a roller and a paintbrush for edging. Allow the paint to dry for at least two hours.
6. Apply a second coat of the flat enamel paint, if needed. If you see bare spots or uneven color, the walls need a second coat of paint. Allow to dry for at least two hours.
7. Tape your design off on the wall with painter's tape. You can create a pattern design, like stripes or circles of varying sizes across the entire wall, or one large design, such as a star in the middle of the wall.
8. Paint your design by filling the space within the tape lines with the Behr Premium Plus Interior/Exterior Hi-Gloss Enamel in the same color as your flat paint, using a paint roller and a paintbrush for the edges.
9. Remove the tape after letting the paint dry for at least two hours.
