House Color Ideas for Barrel Tile
The roof design of any home is an integral piece of the home's overall exterior design. In many cases, a distinctive roof can provide the most recognizable element of a particular design style. Pairing the color of a barrel tile roof well with an exterior wall color can make for a dramatic, style-specific home façade.
Mediterranean
Barrel tiles are widely used in Mediterranean-inspired house exteriors. A cream-colored home with terracotta tiles is a design theme most of us have come to recognize as distinctly Mediterranean. There are other pleasing color combinations that can also express this Mediterranean theme. A home exterior painted in a very light shade of brown is very flattering against a barrel roof with mixed shingles in deep brown, orange and beige. Dark brown trim or dark wood shutters matches well with this design scheme. Yellow home exteriors can also reflect old-world Mediterranean style by incorporating terracotta colored roof tiles interspersed with light blue-green tiles. Matched with blue-green shutters or other exterior accents, this color palette can be quiet striking.
Contemporary
Modern home exteriors have also managed to incorporate barrel tiles in attractive color schemes. Waterfront homes can reflect the blue of the nearby water by selecting vibrant blue barrel tiles and matching with gray paint and white trim. White exteriors matched with blue barrel tiles also makes for a contemporary design for a beachfront home. A crisp white home exterior can also be beautiful against emerald green roof tiles and gray stone accents. Daring pastel colored exteriors can incorporate barrel tiles in shades of light gray for tropical inspired designs. For distinctly modern combinations, black barrel tile roofs can be matched with neutral colored exteriors for a bold design statement.
Japanese
Barrel tile roofs have been incorporated into Japanese style architecture in both historic and modern times. Black and gray roof tiles can easily be paired with light colored exteriors, such as white and gray, to make for an authentic looking color palette. Deep reds and emerald greens set against light brown walls and white trim can also be seen in more modern Japanese architecture and used in Japanese-style home exteriors. For standard homes looking to add Japanese-style accents, barrel tiles in light, earthy red colors are paired well with light brown and beige homes and set off with Japanese-style accents and landscaping.
