Choose A Fresh paint Color According To Furniture Color

Choosing the color to paint a room based on your furniture selection is all about taste and the amount of work you want to do. Choose from many ways and many tools to help you decide on the perfect color for your new room. When choosing a color, keep in mind the type of room and the amount of paint needed to finish the project. It is easy to pick out the details in your furniture and bring out the highlights in your room. Online tools will let you choose the color you want and show you what it will look like before you paint.

1. Write down the color of your furniture and the color of the elements you want to highlight. You will be choosing a contrasting color (a color opposite the color of your furniture) or the color of a smaller element you want to match (gold trim on a cabinet, for example).


2. Take a picture of your room with the furniture, and load it onto your computer.


3. Open your Internet browser, and go to Behr.com. Click on "Explore Color," then click on "Register" to start your project. Registration is free. Once you are logged in, click on "Start Color Smart." Choose contrasting colors that appeal to you using one of the three options. For example, choose "Inspiration Library," choose "Interior," and you will be presented with various photos of interiors. Imagine your furniture is dark cherry, and you would like to contrast it with a lighter warm color. Find a photo of a warm colored room and click on it. Click on the choice that comes up to the right. Choose one of the paint chip samples on the left. Click on "Select these Colors."


4. Click on "Preview." Choose "Use My Photo." Choose to upload your photo.


5. Choose the color from the chip samples, and paint your room digitally to see the result. You can modify colors on the fly as you paint. Click on "Save/Print" when your are finished. Give your project a name and click "Save." Click "Print." You will choose the type of paint and the amount you need, and print out a complete project sheet.
