You can create floorplans on your PC.
With the right tools and the right software, you can create professional floorplans on your own computer. A number of software packages lend themselves quite well to floorplan designed, but even standard software can be used for this purpose. The key is to take stock of the tools you have and determine how those tools can help you create the floorplan you need.
Instructions
1. Create a rough sketch of your floorplan on paper. Note where each item will be placed.
2. Log on to your computer and check your installed software. Look for programs, including Visio and Microsoft Excel. These programs work quite well for creating floorplans.
3. Download shapes and drawing tools from the software manufacturer's website. For instance, clip art, drawings and shapes for Visio and Excel are available at the Microsoft download center.
4. Open the software package and start a new document. Insert the appropriate shapes for each item in your sketched floorplan. To move items around on your floorplan simply highlight them and use your mouse cursor to move them.
5. Examine at the finished floorplan and how it will look on the printed page. Click the "File" menu and choose "Print Preview from the menu.
6. Make any changes you wish, then use the "Print Preview" option again. Print the finished floorplan after all changes have been made.
