Enhance The Resale Worth Of A House

Buying a new carpet can increase the value of a house.

Improving a home is important for your own comfort and convenience and especially important when you're trying to sell the home. Home improvements help add value to the price of a property. There are various ways of improving the resale value of a home.

Instructions

1. Beautify your yard. The external appearance of a home gives the first impression, and therefore it should be inviting and desirable to a potential buyer. You can beautify it in several ways such as mowing the lawn, mulching the flower beds and adding plants and shrubs. Do a thorough general cleanup to give the yard an appealing look.

2. Patch any dents or holes in the walls and paint the walls to make them look like new. Select an attractive color.

3. Add new appliances in the home. Energy-efficient appliances are especially attractive to potential buyers who are looking for energy-efficient houses. You might consider installing solar panels and adding extra insulation, but those improvements will probably not increase the appeal of your home as much as items like granite counter tops, stainless-steel appliances, top-line cabinets and a newly tiled kitchen floor.

4. Buy a new carpet to make the floor attractive. New and clean carpets catch the eye of home buyers and may make them agree to part with more money. Alternatively, if your old carpet covers good wooden floors, rip out the carpeting and have the wooden floors sanded and refinished. Repair damaged tiles in the rooms where there is no carpet. Buy new tiles if repairs will be too expensive or make the floor look old.

5. Remodel the kitchen by replacing outdated kitchen appliances with better ones such as stainless-steel microwaves, ranges, refrigerators and dishwashers. Build shelves or put up cabinets, as many home buyers look for kitchens with enough space to store things.
