Make Photographs Into Wall Wall art

You don't need to be a professional artist to create an unforgettable wall mural.

A wall mural creates an eye-catching space that can make a boring room seem instantly interesting. While many believe that you need to have a natural talent for drawing or years of training at an art school to draw an aesthetically pleasing wall mural, that is simply not the case. As long as you are able to hold a pencil steadily and trace lines projected in front of you, you can create a wall mural of the image of your choice from a painting, portrait or photograph.

Instructions

1. Open up the paper drawer of the copier and place a piece of transparency film onto the top of the stack of paper. Shut the drawer. Lift the cover of the machine and place the photograph on the glass. Set the machine to the appropriate settings so that the photo prints on the transparency sheet.

2. Make the copy and place it on top of your overhead projector. (Overhead projectors can easily be borrowed or rented.) Project the image onto the wall you have chosen. Move the overhead projector forward or back and adjust its lens to make the image larger or smaller. Trace the lines of the projected image onto your wall with a pencil. Work slowly and methodically, paying attention to shading.

3. Turn off the projector once you've finished tracing. Examine your photograph and paint the tracing of your mural using paints which match the colors in your photograph. Make smooth, uniform strokes.
