Interior Designing Fresh paint Colors

Interior color choices range from simple cream to rich blues.

Color choices define the mood and personality of a room. Consider the size and function of your room as well as your own personal taste before deciding on a paint color. When painting, prepare your walls by filling any gaps or holes with putty and applying primer. Test out paint choices by painting swatches in the room and observing them for a few days. Take care to look at the paint at various times throughout the day as the shades will change with the light.

Browns and Grays

Hues from the brown or gray families create a versatile backdrop for your home interior. Pair wall color with complementary accents and accessories using lighter and darker versions of the same color for a cohesive look. Stone gray walls, paired with smoky charcoal accents, create a sleek and contemporary interior color scheme. To add visual stimulation incorporate punches of bright colors, such as a bouquet of chartreuse mums or ornately-patterned fuchsia throw pillows. For brown color schemes, from light beige to rich espresso, use rust and orange accents. Neutral color schemes can accommodate big bold artwork, allowing it to become the focal point of the space.

Blues and Greens

Use blues and greens from soft hues, such as sea-foam green and sky blue to evergreen and cobalt, to transform your interior into a relaxing space inspired by nature. Embrace an organic approach by looking outside your window for inspiration. Those in desert climates might incorporate cactus green and lavender-tinged sky blues while seaside locales may dictate marsh green and deep blue. For a crisp accent in your nature inspired space use white accents for window treatments, area rugs and furniture. Repurpose existing wood furniture by adding a fresh coat of white paint.

Cream

Creamy white walls paired with rich dark floor finishes make an instant statement in your interior design. Emphasize the character and finish of hardwood floors by contrasting them with light creamy wall color. Cream walls encourage experimentation with their simplicity, blending with other design features, such as furniture and fabrics. Add visual interest and pops of color with upholstered furniture and area rugs in bold patterns and hues. Stay bold with your choices as the simplicity of the wall color will not compete with accents and accessories. Use bright colors, such as turquoise or chartreuse, to punch up the space and add dimension to the room. Cream color palettes succeed in dining and living rooms as well as bedroom spaces.
