Minimalist Theme
Real men don't need themes, or excess decor, for their bedrooms. By creating a minimalist environment, you can decorate a room with everyday necessities and avoid the kind of clutter that would chase a woman away. A man's minimalist bedroom will have the basics and not a whole lot more. A simple bed, a single chair, a dresser, a good piece of artwork and possibly a television is more than enough to make the room comfortable.
Furniture
The number of furnishings in the room should be few, and their design simple. Look for low-profile furnishings with a sophisticated sensibility. Platform beds, low tables and dressers with little ornamentation besides trendy drawer pulls are simple ideas to dress a man's room .
Color
Ask a man his favorite color and the answer will very likely be gray, black or something close to them. There is nothing wrong with these colors, but choosing muted, grayed out versions of stronger colors would make better statement. Slate blue, rich chocolate and avocado green are appealing without being dreary. Fabrics and bedding should run along these same color lines going a shade darker or lighter for accents creating a monotone room scheme. Add interest through the use of textured fabrics, rugs, and bedding.
Art
Art cannot be neglected in making a room understated to create a minimalist theme. A man's room should include at least one major focal piece in the form of a strong piece of artwork. Choosing this piece of artwork reflects your taste and sensibilities. It must be bold, daring and tasteful. Men new to buying artwork can begin by thinking about favorite things such as cars, boats or sports, and acquiring a vintage poster or pop art piece in that theme.
