If you want to hide textures from sight, the best strategy to implement is to utilize a paint sponge and mix multiple colors of alkyd paints. The sponge will lightly dab the mixed colors of paint and should cover over the smudges or textures.
Preparing the Wall
Even with the best paint available, it is best to prepare the wall before applying appropriate paint. Utilizing wall scrappers to chip away blisters and wall chips from the wall before painting is crucial to effectively cover the wall. Also, since alkyd paints contain large amounts of volatile chemicals, it is highly recommended to paint when your home is well-ventilated.
